Use the ten Design Exercises to develop one coherent design. Your final portfolio should contain the site and goals, a base map with relevant overlays, a concept and chosen layout, the plant/element relationships, and a short implementation sequence, budget, and monitoring plan. Reuse the material developed in Modules 3, 6, and the later discussions, and integrate the results of the ten Design Exercises into the same portfolio.

Prepare your presentation

Present the design in a form that lets the reader see the plan and understand your reasoning. State assumptions and limits. Explain one alternative you considered and why you did not choose it. Ask a landholder, peer, or instructor for feedback where available; identify one resulting revision or explain why you retained the design. Use the feedback to strengthen the final presentation rather than creating a separate project.

Your final design will be reviewed for fit with the goals and site observations; application of ethics and principles; functional relationships; feasibility and care requirements; safety and stated limits; and a clear explanation of your reasoning.

Presentation & discussion

Exercise: Presentation of Design and Discussion

What to prepare

  • Your final design presentation or portfolio containing the site and goals, base map and overlays, concept and chosen layout, and plant/element relationships.
  • Your implementation sequence, budget, monitoring plan, and completed work from all ten Design Exercises.
  • Your design reasoning, assumptions, alternatives considered, and feedback or revisions described in the study guide. Supporting maps, tables, and notes may be included in the main file or attached separately.

Save written notes as a document or PDF. For paper maps or handwritten notes, use a clear photo or scan. You can combine related work in one file.
